-DES FLEURS SUR LE NOIR- 2014 F/W NUNA collection is inspired by the beauty of night-blooming flower that portrays secret desire and attention of a woman. Feminine and yet sensual silhouettes define NUNA’s looks.
WHAT MAKES THE ITEMS UNIQUE
For me, it is always fascinating to see the mix of clothes hanging in the closet; women’s dress, skirt and men’s shirts, coats, and suits. I took this image in creating my collection. I wanted to focus on the classic details and silhouettes of woolen fabric which is highlighted in men’s clothes, but adding a feminine taste to it. For suits, in particular, double cut on the sleeves completes its chic look, maximizing feminine beauty. Also, I mixed cotton silk and artificial leather pleated skirt in order to create tender but strong look at the same time.
MAKING: HOW THE ITEMS HAVE BEEN OR WILL BE PRODUCED
I collect variety of fabrics from all over the world and play with their distinctive features by mix and matching. For example, I would create opposing features such as soft and hard, cold and warm by putting together artificial leather and digital printing. And this gives amazing cuts and silhouettes. I make the samples at the studio. When I have the finalized design, I work with Modéliste and professional sewers to create the piece.
I said to myself that in the near future I will have my collection on stage and awe the world. While in Paris for 5 years, I constantly challenged myself with new design ideas which led me to fall deeper in love with the world of fashion design. I was strongly inspired by traveling to different parts of the world and their culture and style and the harmony created within. With this inspiration I prepared my first collection. I was extremely grateful when I became one of the ten winners at Hyeres Festival. Since then, I’m based in Seoul preparing for my next collections.
